Included in this symposium will be topics to educate healthcare professionals on the most current treatment options, programs to facilitate remote access and diagnostic techniques. Objectives include:
Identifying risk factors and advantages/disadvantages in Coumadin therapy and alternative anticoagulation treatment of stroke.
Discussing the legal and medical ramifications of the misdiagnosis of transient ischemic attacks (TIA) and the failure to treat.
Identifying the complexities of stroke diagnosis and the tools used in diagnosis.

4th Biennial Stroke Conference - Raising the Bar: Effective Decisions in Stroke Care
Physicians, nurses, occupational therapists and OT assistants, physical therapists and PT assistants, speech language pathologists and assistants, stroke coordinators, EMS; emergency department, neurosciences, nursing home, home health and any healthcare provider who cares for people with stroke.
Description:
The 4th Biennial Stroke Conference will feature local, regional and national stroke experts. Evidence-based best practices in stroke care will be highlighted at this day-and-a-half long conference. Newer technology will be used during the conference to engage the participants but the focus is always on "the human side" of stroke.
Upon completion of this education activity, the participant will be able to:
Evaluate recent advances in the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of stroke and cerebrovascular disease
Describe the most recent stroke clinical trials that may impact the specialties of stroke care
Access stroke systems of care networking through information technology
Summarize innovative community based approaches to stroke recovery and rehabilitation
Identify the power of hope and will in a personal story of stroke recovery

Fees (until September 16, 2010): $150.00 for both days
$125.00 per person group rate when 5 or more register at the same time
